I like this a lot. You nail the sound and vibe.

B-RadGfromOV responds:

nice thanks

I like the ideas you have here, some of the melodies are really nice.
Probably the biggest thing holding this back from being great is the quality of the sounds you are using. None of the instruments are particularily interesting to hear in my opinion (piano sounds good, and some synths). Drums sound pretty weak , the "wub" basses just don't have that "sound" to them you always hear in the genre, and as a whole the track sounds flat. Sounds like you may be able to make use of a little more reverb and delay as well, just to give it more of a sense of space.
That all being said I do think there is some good stuff in here, and with some tweaks I'm sure you could make it epic to listen to. Right now the best way I can describe it is that the song is trying to tell us that it is awesome, and it is implied, but the overall sound just isn't selling it.

Hopefully that helps, keep fighting the good fight.

MysteriousPresence responds:

Hey thank you very much for the review ! =)
I totally get what you mean, I think my software just isn't made for that kind of music ! For example, I can't even find more powerful drums. X)
Thanks again ! :D

I like this a lot. Took until about a minute in but I realized that I was really into the vibe, and it's really calming.
Something about it reminds me of something out of FF9, me likey.

Bertn1991 responds:

Thanks for giving such a kind and thoughtful review ^0^

I'm glad someone likes the overall vibe to it. Also, Final Fantasy IX is probably my second favorite of the series. To be compared to that is pretty special :-)

Thanks again <3

I like this. Very cool melancholy sound. That chord progression is cool, and the melodies you have here are really sweet.
Like the other review said, I definitely think some more little "ear candy" sort of things would help take this to the next level.

Bertn1991 responds:

That's a fair review. I can totally respect the points made here. I'm happy you still liked it, and thank you very much <3

I can jam to this small red fruit song. I love the vibe, borderline fever dreamish music is something I hold very dear. And I mean that in the most positive way possible.

SukiWukiDookie responds:

Thx

This actually could put me to sleep. In a good way. Really calming

a23spyro responds:

Thank you!

Really like the feel and groove of this, but can't help but feel that using such similar sounds so often makes it sound a little stagnant. Definitely has mighty get-downability potential though.

You've got a really high quality sound. You definitely do a sweet job of capturing an atmosphere. All I could imagine listening to this was some futuristic Midgar-esque city in the dead of night. I could definitely see something of this style in the background of some action game like that. Not quite memorable enough to be title screen music or anything, but as a soundtrack to gameplay it would kill it.

Mellowsonic responds:

thanks man yeah soundtrack for games where my dream :D

Excellent sense of space in your mix, and quite cohesive overall. Love your choice of sounds used, the percussion especially just sits right for me. Something I would suggest is to get a little more creative and in depth on your transitions! A lot of them somewhat fell flat like the sudden jump to loud again around 2:49. Something like a gong or cymbal, or even a little filtered white noise sweep usually adds a lot of flavour to stuff like that I have found. But good stuff, and some nicely written parts in here as well!

VoltSpeedGames responds:

Thx I appreciate the ideas of what I can do better and the nice parts :D

Right off the bat, I love your sounds. That plucked sort of lead at the start is great, and your synth at 0:23 is so wide I would have to take multiple bites. Your frequency control is great, just enough bass to give it that kick in the chest, and all of your elements sit just where they need to. It is obviously a very chilled out song, and lots of people are into that, but for me I think I would have enjoyed a little more variety in some of the parts such as the beat and rhythm instruments. A little changing up with the dynamics would make for a greater shift in energy between parts. What I mean by that is with parts such as 1:53, there is possibility for a much more effective transition if there was more of a difference in overall sound between the buildup and the drop.
